2021 – A year in review
For many years, I have adopted some of the “Agile” learning from software development back into my personal life. One of which was the retrospective event. Which effectively was three questions that I would ask myself at the end of the day or in this case, this year in review. The questions where:
- What went well?
- What could be improved?
- Any ideas for improvement moving forward?
What went well?
- The family adjusted well to the COVID lifestyle out here in Keswick Ridge.
- I learned how to use the snow blower correctly this year.. lol.
- Started a print on demand experiment, and shut down the print on demand experiment.
- Dad and Mom are still in good shape such that we could do our snow walks together.
- Elma Gifted me the snowfeet.
- Saw my beautiful, once shy wife, go out of her way to help out a FedEx truck as it was stuck in the snow outside the house, just “coz she could”. A phrase I use a lot to justify doing “out of the ordinary” stuff.
- Got closer with the bubble family.
- Still had cold food, as we where busy decorating food for dad’s pictures.
- Were able to do a few hikes.
- Went winter camping.
- Elma went through a major surgery, one that resolves most of the pains she has been having for the last 8 years.
- Went wilderness camping with the boys.
- Went Axe throwing with Elma for the first time.
- Enjoyed the wilderness of Keswick Ridge.
- Started gardening in our backyard.
- Got my outdoor gear all ready with more camping gear and also a floating party island.
- Saw our god-daughter have her 2nd birthday.
- Got to see our nephew Aezio and his amazing mother Freny and alright father Sahil.
- Had a new addition to the family with Mary and Jordan’s little Skylar & also from Angie and Ash with little Rylee
- Got to see my cousins from NYC when they came to visit us.
- Finished my home automation.
- Started writing a book about home automation.
- Got Chance into our lives.
- and I am sure I am missing a few more….
What would be better?
- Actually learn how to use the snowfeet properly. My ass still has PTSD from the falls.
- Didn’t do as many hikes as I wanted to.
- Should not have done winter camping without more preparation – it was cold.
- Know how to fix the snow blower myself, one of the grinding spinning thing need a PIN replaced. God bless my neighbor who was able to show me how to do it.
- Actually have vegetables to eat, if the garden was fenced in.
- Not gaining more weight.
- Lost chance from our lives.
Any ideas for improvement moving forward?
- Sleep underneath the stars more often.
- Spend more time with the family.
- Learn to live in the now instead of the possible futures.
- Learn how to use the snow feet.
- Annoy Elma a bit more.
- Take in more of the natural beauty of the area.
- Finish the book and start another one.
- More passive income ideas.
- Learn to fail sooner than later, i.e. do not fear experimentation and adapt to changes better.
Wow seems like it was a good year with a lot of ups, and also a few downs. But in all good things “Agile”, we roll with the punches. I need to keep my Totem’s closer and remember that its for that reason I do what I do.
Had way to many pictures to mention so created a google photo link for everyone to view https://photos.app.goo.gl/czFNXUbdoB7jdCv67
