I have a migraine
For a very long time, Elma has been getting migraines and we did not know what was causing this. Now if anyone has had a migraine before, depending on the level, it can literally be blinding. Each person’s triggers are different so we, over the years, figured out that one of the major triggers was the change in barometric pressure.
Personally I have been blessed to never have migraines before, but seeing some of what Elma goes through, even the light hurts. So that gave me a “bright” idea on how to help her out there.
I already had some code that would look into the weather, and if I extended that to enable that house knowing that she could be having a migraine, ensure that the lights in the house do not go over a certain level. This way the lights won’t hurt her as much.
Now the scientist in me comes out, to observe the places in the house she visits the most. Clearly it was the:
* Dinning Room, Living room, Kitchen, Basement, Master bedroom and ofcourse the ensuite
I modified the weather code to check for the barometric pressure and set global variable called migraine to ON
I added a new routine so that it can take in voice command to set or clear the migraine mode variable, and also reset migraine every night.
I also modified the light codes to check if migraine mode was on then do not turn those light higher than 1%. This way the house automations can make some of her pain go away.
She did also say noise is also a factor and maybe I should not talk as much when she has migraines. I guess she will just have to suffer the pain of the noise during the migraines.. lol
