About me
Who am I
Electrical Engineer by education but a developer at heart, trying to build things that people would find useful. Guilty of learning how to code on the side, so might not write it the most optimized way but learning as I go. Worn a few different hats and sometimes a few together over the last years, some fit a lot better than others. Worked in different domains from Early Childhood Education to SmartGrid to now in CyberSecurity and Identity Protection.
A father, husband and coder, who is driven by automating his life’s minor decisions. I’ve always been a engineer by education but a software developer at heart, so efficiently a Builder of things.
My Day Life
Currently I am a Staff Engineering Program Manager, what does that mean? Well the company has goals and where I feel I fit is to get those goals accomplished within the engineering group. This does mean some times I act like a TPM or sometimes like a PO, with the lack of a PM, that hat is also worn at times for the platform needs.
The day to day varies from either planning out objectives; to helping the team with their development work; to even trying to figure out the roadmap of the work that needs to be done, and in most cases providing and getting status updates to identity if there are any blockers and risks to work that needs to get done. If there are any found, then figure out and work towards getting them resolves. Most days it is a very fun place to be, in the middle of everything.
I don’t get upset when people reach out off hours, so please ask away–at worst you’ll just get a delayed response or lets talk when I am free.
Personal Values
I value ownership and responsibility of my work, if I mess up that is on me and if I don’t hey thats considered a win. Believe in enjoying the work that I do, and having a sense of humor to go along with it. When you work with people for extended periods of time, you might as well enjoy the time with them and make it fun. Its been a while but sometimes when you have to work the late hours and put in effort for the ‘extra mile’ having people that you resonate with make a world of a difference.Work/life balance is key, tend to follow that myself, recommend and respect that for others as well. After all we all need time to recharge for what we need to do in our lives.
After hours
My wife also works and we recently adopted our little baby girl, and depending on when you are reading this she isnt little anymore. So between working and learning how to be parents at the age of 40 and taking care of my parents, who are living with us, life is busy and active.
Like the outdoors regardless of the weather, anything or everything. Tend to go on waterfall hunting, camping, gardening and trying my hand at landscaping. Eventually a hobby farm, if I can convince my wife about it. When not out doors and when the family is sleeping, I go back to my developer life and continue working on my automations for my house and with life in general.
My motto in life has been “If I can automate things, I will“.
With the above motto have automated most of my house, my lawn moving and also some communications for both my personal and work life, like:- Home automations
– Garden / lawn automations
– Todo List automations
– Work life task and note automations
Do hit me up if you want to talk about it, as at the end of the day I am still a developer at heart.
