One of the perks of Dad and Mom living with us is that whenever I go “Mom I am craving ….”, she normally cooks it up within a day or two.

So of course, like momma’s boy, I was craving Kebabs and told Mom about it. Mommy dearest asked which one I wanted:

  • Chappli Kebabs: They are spiced up burger patties with onion / tomatoes and a lot of flavors
  • Seekhi Kebabs: These are minced meat with spices put on skewers and grilled
  • Shammi Kebabs: Minced meat, lentils and spices all ground up then egg battered and fried

Since I was too lazy to BBQ in the cold, I went with the first option – the Chappli Kebabs.

Onions / Tomatoes / Ginger / Garlic and Cilantro

We started off with the basics of all food mom cooks – Onions, Tomatoes, Ginger and Garlic. For freshness, mom added cilantro as well.

Then in a mixing bowl Mom added:

  • Minced Meat
  • One scrambled egg
  • Salt
  • Coarsely ground black pepper
  • Red chilli
  • Coarsely ground coriander seeds
  • Cumin seeds
  • Dried pomegranate seeds
  • Caraway seeds
  • Onions, Tomatoes, Ginger, Garlic and Cilantro
The mix in action

Formed the burger patties and then pan fried them in a few teaspoons of oil, as the meat’s fat will add to the mix.

Let ’em fry

In all good things mom, she needs to enforce the “eat your vegetables” philosophy, so placed we them on lettuce leaves.

The final dish

Thanks Mom!!
