With summer here, its time to make something refreshing. One of my favorite dishes that mom makes is her Trifle. Its filled with jelly, custard and of course cake. I know its a simple recipe but its one that I cannot seem to replicate. So this time around I stood besides mom to see how she makes it.

The recipe apparently is:

  • 1 pound of sponge cake
  • 1 packet each of Jelly of two different flavors
  • Custard, and
  • lots of fruits and nuts

Once the jelly is firm and the custard is cooled down, we layer the cake, jelly and custard in layers so that it looks pretty. Sounds simple yes, but mom is the expert at it.

Naturally, I got two mason jars made just for me, so no one can touch them. One of the many perks of having the parents with us.
