Chance, you entered our lives around 6 months ago. Almost two years after patches passing away. We thought we were ready for another pet and there you were looking from a home.

The ad on Facebook from Relinquished Souls said that a 2 year puppy was looking for a forever home, even though we found out later that you where 6. We knew you would be the right for us.

On that first meetup, it was love at first sight and we quickly made plans to pick you up in a few days. You were filled with energy and just a ray of sunshine. Mind you, you did not trust other bigger dogs as you barked at everyone that passed by you. We knew you would be a handful.

Over the next few months, you started to get to know and trust us a lot better and also your surroundings, while letting your personality shine. Starting with Chance the Guard Dog. You would sit besides Elma and bark at anything that walked by the house. As Chance the Guard Dog got comfortable, we got to see Chance the Coworker. The one that always sat besides me while I worked and sometimes sat on my feet while I am in meetings.

The best version of you was the Chance the Cuddler, who always loved to snuggle up and curl up in a ball. I know I loved it when you used to sleep on Elma’s side of the bed so that I could spread out as much as I can.

Sadly we found out that you had cancer that infected your entire body in a matter of three weeks. In those weeks you went from a hyper ball of energy and joy to someone who would struggle getting off the bed. We decided to end your pain so that you did not have to suffer. We were and still are devastated but we know that you aren’t in pain anymore.

All we hope is that you are now with Patches and keeping her and the kids company until we meet again.
